INCREASED HIRING, FEWER STAFF CUTS PROJECTED FOR THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2010
For the third consecutive quarter, more employers are projecting they will increase headcount in the next three months while fewer employers are expecting staff cuts, according to CareerBuilder’s Q2 2010 Job Forecast.
While employers will continue to face challenges this quarter, CareerBuilder CEO Matt Ferguson expects to see gradual improvement in the job market throughout the year. "The rise in online job listings and resurgence in temporary hiring are good leading indicators for stability in the market and the creation of more permanent jobs down the road," Ferguson says.
Among the major findings of CareerBuilder’s most recent forecast, a survey of more than 2,800 hiring managers and human resource professionals nationwide:
- 22 percent of employers who had layoffs in the last 12 months plan to reinstate some employees in the first half of 2010
- 39 percent of employers who had salary cuts will restore pay to previous levels in the first half of the year.
- Nearly one-in-three employers are concerned about top workers leaving their organizations in the coming months.
More findings from the survey, including current hiring trends and key economic indicators, are available in CareerBuilder’s Q2 2010 Hiring Forecast.
